We have never been given any freebies from this brand so this is a 100% authentic review and opinion. We have been using The Simple Folk clothing for years and keep ordering new when needed. We are always very loyal to the brands we find, test and love. It makes it all a lot easier too – you know the brands’ values and that their quality meets your criteria.
What we expect from all the clothing we buy…
- made of non-toxic materials (we prefer undyed organic fabrics or oeko-tex certified dyed organic products)
- made of a quality that lasts so that the garment can be passed on from one child to the next
- only natural materials

- materials that are easy to wash and dry
Where is The Simple Folk from and where is it located?
The brand was founded by two mothers who both awakened to the beauty of natural and organic materials, minimalism and eco-friendly living. They wanted to create a brand with timeless pieces that were soft, practical and most of all – made with non-toxic fabrics and dyes. And what we personally love in this brand – they also decided to go for the pattern-free look. The Simple Folk is also known for the different playsuits they have and the two mothers have said themselves to be slightly obsessed especially with playsuits on kids.
There is no brick and mortar store, yet, so all shopping is done online. Orders are handled quickly and the whole ordering process has always been easy and quick. Their customer service staff also help you in choosing the right sizes if needed. From what I have understood, everything is produced in Portugal.
Organic and non-toxic children’s clothing
Each of the brand’s garments are made using GOTS and OEKO-TEX® certified fabrics and dyes. As said earlier, it is a relief that I can be sure when placing an order with them, that the products always meet the same criteria. Every single fabric and button they use is clean and toxin-free. Most of the items are also made from organic fabrics. We always choose the ones that are organic as we want to know how the fabrics we wear on our skins have been produced.

The Simple Folk sizing and fabrics
The Simple Folk’s clothes and super soft and very durable. Here are some comments on each fabric of their’s that we have purchased and used.
Organic muslin
Super soft and airy. Great for the summer time when you want some protection from the sun wihtout getting too hot (we don’t wear sunscreen so muslin is a great option to cover the skin during the hottest hours of the day). Muslin doesn’t stretch at all, it is also not the most durable of the fabrics out there so it needs a bit more gentle care. Sizing wise I am typically choosing a size smaller when buying their muslin clothes.
Organic rib
Tighter fit, definitely going up a size or even two. Rib can shrink a bit after few washes so better go up few sizes and turn sleeves in the beginning if needed that end up with a too tight outfit. Rib is not the softest fabric they have and can look very used after few washes, definitely not my favourite fabric. I also like the children to have a bit more room in their clothes as they move and play a lot so also for that reason don’t like tight fitting clothes on children.
Organic cotton
Ok, I am telling you, you won’t buy any other brands’ clothes once you have tried The Simple Folk’s silky soft cotton. If I had to choose one fabric to have a newborn to wear during the first weeks of her life, it would be this (ok, or organic pima cotton…).
Most of the playsuits, pajamas and undies are also made of this super soft fabric. Even the seams are super soft.
Organic cotton fleece
The softest sweatshirt and tracksuit material I have ever seen. Our oldest son got his first sweatshirt and told us “Mommy, I loooove this, this is the softest shirt I have ever tried”. To keep the fleece soft from the inside, you can also brush it at times. If you want to ensure it stays really soft, you should not machine dry this fabric. From the outside the fleece fabric they have is pretty much just like any sweasthirt material. When it comes to durability of the fabric it is a bit more soft than the usual sweatpants and sweatshirts.
